When Ray Blanchard’s infamous autogynephilia study was repeated on a sample of cis women instead of trans women, 93% of the women in the study were found to be “autogynephiles” using Blanchard’s original definition, and 28% were found to be “autogynephiles” using a less aggressive definition. This about the most definitive possible demonstration that Blanchard’s theory relies on defining things in a manner so vague and general that they are unfalsifiable (and hence by definition not science) and also dramatically exposes Blanchard’s fundamental flaw in failing to include any form of control group in his original study.
